The ancient tower "Torre Ruffa"

Inside the Village, in the Upper area, stands majestically in front of the sea the ancient tower “Torre Ruffa”, a tower full of history and charm who gave his name to the place in which we find ourselves, the Contrada Torre Ruffa and the beach.
In the sixteenth century, Don Pedro of Toledo, Viceroy of Naples, had it built in the territory of the Kingdom 366 watchtowers along the coasts. The “Torrieri” (the guardians of the tower)  with fireworks and gunfire, pointed to the locals and the tower next the arrival of the Saracens. Located about 3 km apart, in the territory of Ricadi originally were five.

Have remained only three: Torre Marrana, Torre Ruffa e Torre Balì.
